Take Your Beautiful Russian Women Friends Out to the Van Gogh Cafe
It is harder and harder to find a cute café in the city with its own character, especially on Ulitsa Maroseika, where the chains have taken over. Look on the back streets however and you will find places like the Van Gogh Café, which will provide you with an arty café dining experience.
The Van Gogh Café is located on an alley that runs behind Maroseika. The small space gives off big character even with only a half dozen tables. The interior design is art themed and features original artwork hanging on the walls. The paintings and knickknacks displayed are all for sale.
Some of the dishes have cute art related names that make it hard to tell what they are, like “Van Gogh’s Hat” which is a hot mushroom salad that goes for 280 rubles and “Art Viscera” which is chicken liver in a creamy mushroom sauce for 280 rubles.
You can also get blini for 130-210 rubles and soups like Minestrone for 120 rubles and Mediterranean cream of seafood for 230 rubles. There are also some pasta dishes and fondue for 700 rubles.
There is draft beer for 160-190 rubles and live music on Wednesdays and Fridays. The music ranges from jazz to blues and rockabilly.
The café is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and is located at 3 Petroverigsky Per.
