Take a Date to Ireland Without Leaving Moscow

At the new pub, called Belfast, you can get an Irish experience without leaving the country. However, don’t expect a cute Irish theme, instead, think IRA. On one wall is a mural featuring the Irish flag with the slogan “Tiocfaidh ar la” (”Our day will come”) written across it. On anther wall is a mural with British soldiers marching away towards England carrying the Union Jack with them. Above that is another slogan “Slan Abhail” (Safe Home”) and below is “37 years - time to go…” There are other signs of resistance throughout the pub.

The place is a bit rough around the edges, but it would make for certain adventure unless you or you date are English. The menu is small but gets the job done. You can get “SAS” chicken wings for 180 rubles, toasted garlic rye bread called “Patrick’s Breath” for 70 rubles, an Irish stew for 200 rubles and three different types of sausages with FREEdom potatoes for 210 to 260 rubles.

You can also get a Guinness or Kilkenny for 180 rubles a pint. Two British beers are also available, the Newcastle Brown for 180 rubles and Boddington’s for 170 rubles.

Belfast is located at 1 Sredny Ovchinnikovsky Per., Bldg 13 and is open from 6pm to 12:30 pm Saturday and 5pm - 12:30 pm Sunday.
