Russian Women and Men Will Have Change to See Siberian Tigers in the Wild

A national park has been created in Russia in order to protect and preserve Siberian tigers according to an international conservation group. The park, which has been named Zov Tigra National Park, will be the countries first of its kind in terms of providing protection for a species. The name of the park translates to “Roar of the Tiger.”

According to the World Wildlife Fund, the 200,000-acre park will provide an opportunity for Russian women and men to experience the Siberian tiger in natural while at the same time will protect the animal’s habitat while simultaneously allowing for nature tourism.

The WWF has been lobbying for the creation of the park for 10 years and as part of that process had to develop an economically feasible plan to justifying preserving such a large area of land. That means that Zov Tigra will become an ecological theme park in a sense, trying to turn a profit on its natural resources while maintaining areas along the Chinese border and southern coast where no humans are allowed.

The Siberian tiger is threatened by poachers who hunt them for the bones and skin that are used in Chinese medicine.
