The Russians are on a roll in Melbourne at the world swimming championships, especially in the synchronized swimmers have won gold in six out of seven events. Overall Russia has the most medals in the competition so far with 15 total, nine of those being gold.

Anastasia Davydova and Anastasia Ermakove teamed up to win the duet free in synchronized swimming Friday evening with a score of 99.333 points. The Russian ladies also claimed victory in the tem free event. The French swimmer Virginie Dedieu won her third world solo title in a row preventing a sweep by the Russians.

In men’s diving, Dmitry Sautin got seven perfect 10s from the judges on his next to last dive, which was a reverse 2 1/2 somersault from the pike position. It was not enough to beat Qin Kai of China however. Sautin, a two time champion himself was only able to earn a bronze medal this time around.

In women’s diving there was some judging controversy with the Russian women. In the 1 m springboard Irina Lashko was fifth and Yuliva Pakalina took the bronze, but they both felt that the judging was very poor and spoke out strongly about it.
