Russian Woman Tennis Star May Have Surgery
The beautiful Russian woman tennis star, Maria Sharapova may end up in a surgical gown instead of a tennis dress if her shoulder injury does not improve. Not only has the injury kept her from participating in part of the tour this year, it has also kept her from a Fed Cup debut in the United States this weekend as well as affected her play all season long.
She was scheduled to get some scans in London and will discuss the decision with her family and coach. She has been working on her upper body strength and says the injury is getting better, but was beaten at Wimbledon 6-1, 6-3 by eventual champion Venus Williams, her earliest exit from the tournament since the first time she played in it in 2003. If she does not have surgery, taking a break from the Fed Cup would help her recover and prepare to defend her U.S. Open title.
Sharapova is taking the injury in stride, while it is disappointing, she still is confident that it will not disrupt her career. Having won two grand slam titles and having been ranked number 1 in the world, she feels that she has many years of good tennis as well as some more titles in her.
