There will soon be a new ski resort outside of St Petersburg – the first year round ski resort in the region after a $20 million development project is finished. The representatives of Igora, located north of the city said the resort will feature a spa complex and swimming pool along with a diverse range of other luxury services designed to enhance the guest experience.

The Leningrad Oblast region has become home to a number of renovated resorts that were built in the Soviet era in response to a winter sports boom. There are resorts near the villages of Okhta Park, Korobitsyno and Pykhtolova Gora that are host to St Petersburg residents who want to stick close at home for their skiing adventures. Those resorts usually have steep slopes and/or cheap prices. Igora says it will be known for a high quality of service, which is still an area that needs improvement in Russia. In fact, the slogan for Igora is “The Hospitable Resort for Professional Lovers of Life.”

With approximately 50,000 skiers in the St Petersburg area, the resort will be looking to capitalize on the lack of quality resorts in the area. Igora is also marketed towards people that want to have fun, meet single St. Petersburg Women and men and enjoy a cozy ski cottage for the weekend holiday.
