The first exhibit in Moscow of the art of the Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani is bringing in large crowds of art lovers even after the first month of its opening. The most popular pieces in the exhibition are the later works of the artist that feature his trademark long angular faces and swan-like necks.

Modigliani had a penchant for women which shows in his choice of subjects for his paintings, pencil sketches and sculpted heads, which are for the most part representative of the female form.

The works included in the exhibition come from private collections and 24 art galleries from around the world. The galleries represented include the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum, the Picasso Museum, the London Tate Gallery and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

There are many aspects of this exhibition that makes it special – the range and scope of paintings, photographs and information panels which include touch-sensitive screens about Modigliani in both English and Russian are just two of the reasons this is a must see display.

The prices are 160 rubles (50 rubles for students) for Russians and 400 rubles (200 rubles for students). The exhibit runs until June 17th at the Pushkin Art Museum, Volkhonka 12. This is definitely an event worth taking a beautiful Russian woman out on a date to see.
