Live Music Entertainment Options in St. Petersburg
International superstar and recording artist Elton John will be appearing in St. Petersburg on Palace Square Friday as part of a European tour. The promoters for the concert are PMI who are also bring the Rolling Stones to the city later in July.
Back in 1979 Elton John was one of the first international rock stars to perform in the Soviet Union. He performed four concerts in both St. Petersburg and Moscow as part of an exchange of culture between the British and the Soviets. That time it was a partly solo show with some assistance from percussionist Ray Cooper. John’s next St. Petersburg appearance was at a charity event in 2001 in which he performed for 600 guests at a dinner-jacket-only function at a palace in Pushkin.
Rock group Aerosmith will perform Tuesday at the Peterburgsky Sports and Concert Complex. If you aren’t in the mood for Elton on Friday night, you may want to go check out The Ladybug Transistor which is a Brooklyn-based band that will be performing at The Place.
Other entertainment options in the city include Simba Vibration at The Other Side Friday and Pocola on Saturday; J.D. and the Blenders at Achtung Baby Saturday and Vermicelli Orchestra at the JFC Jazz Club on Saturday.
