Hirst Exhibit Elevates Moscow's Art Status

One of the hottest destinations for VIP Moscow women and men was the recent viewing of the works of superstar British artist Damien Hirst at the Triumph Gallery. The special VIP one night show was a smashing success, demonstrating that Moscow is a very cosmopolitan city that appreciates the newest art trends.

Everything at the one night viewing had been sold in advance – the works included part of a series called New Religion that first appeared in London and were all limited edition prints and artifacts of up to 155 copies per work.

Women dressed in designer high heels and miniskirts walked around holding snacks and Bloody Mary cocktails in test-tubes and plastic syringes that held chocolate mousse and panacotta. The show was based around science being the world’s new religion and features photos of pills and bottles of drugs interlaced with Biblical themes.

The Moscow women and men that attended did not seem upset or shocked by displays like “The Wounds of Christ” which uses close-up photographs of a gunshot victim on a ventilator that has bleeding hand and foot wounds Photoshopped into it.

Zelfira Tregulova, a deputy director of the Kremlin Museum felt that the Hirst showing was a positive thing for the Moscow art community.
