One popular social pastime in Kyiv is bowling – it’s fun, simple and a good activity to do when you are on a date or just hanging out with friends. Bowling became popular in the Ukraine in the 1990′s because of the movie “Kingpin” which prompted the opening of the first bowling club in Kyiv, Strike.
Strike has 12 lanes and is the most reputable and oldest club in the city. An hour of bowling costs Hr 45-66 depending on the time and day that you go. There is also a couple of bars, pool tables, restaurant and wine room, which features wines from Germany, Italy and France. There are also bowling competitions held at the club.
Another popular destination is the Vitamin bowling chain. With three clubs, each with a bar, playground for the kids, pizza, pool room and gambling zone, Vitamins 1 2 and 3 cost between Hr 54-198 for an hour. Friday nights are host to “Disco Bowling”
For a more risque time, check out Maximum which has 10 lanes along with a casino, pub and strip bar. Other bowling clubs in the city include Makhaon, Ultramarin. Each have their own unique characteristics and most clubs also have league play and coaching for the more serious bowlers.
