The formal Hello in Russian is ZDRAST-uy-te, whereas the informal one is ZDRAST-uy. To simply say Hi, you say pri-VYET.

The formal Goodbye in Russian is da svi-DA-ni-ya, the informal Goodbye or Bye is pa-KA.

The capital letters given in the phonetic Russian here are for emphasis, these are spoken in a louder tone. For example, in da svi-DA-ni-ya, the emphasis is only on the “DA”, and the rest is spoken without emphasis.

Saying Good Morning and Good Night to Your Russian Bride

Once you have memorized Hello and Goodbye in Russian, it is time to move on to other phrases of greeting, like Good Morning, or DO -bra-ye OO-tra.

To wish a Russian woman Good Evening, say DO-briy VYE-chir!

To bid Good night, say DO-broy NO-chi!

The alternative is “Very pleased to meet you” or O-chin’ pri-YAT-no.

“See you soon” in Russian is da SKO-ra-va.
