Five Things to Know About Russian Brides Marriage

1. You don’t get married to a Russian bride in a church; the ceremony takes place at the department of registration as a civil ceremony. You can get married in a church, but it is not considered an official ceremony.

2. There are no bridesmaids or grooms or flower girls. Instead, there are witnesses, usually the best friends of the Russian bride and groom, who are in charge of planning the wedding festivities, create speeches and make up contests and games for the guests.

3. The reception is the most important part of a Russian marriage. Drinking is mandatory. The reception starts with a toast to the Russian bride and groom after which the wine is declared bitter and the couple must kiss to make it sweet. This happens all night long.

4. The second day of the Wedding, because when you have a Russian bride the celebration lasts for two days, is more relaxed and typically spent with family and close friends. There is plenty of traditional Russian food and games that are played to raise money to give to the newlyweds.

5. If you decide to marry a Russian bride, you can have two ceremonies, one in the United States and one in Russia!
