Here is a topic I have been thinking about and would really love to have input.

"Country or Small Town" -vs- "Large City"

I am wondering what the big differences are between Ladies from different types of environments. or even if there are any.... meaning are they accustomed to different attitudes in a relationship.

Sometimes it s not clear to me what type of area a Lady is from and if it affects what they hope to find for a new life. What are the different skill sets and habits I would expect to find in the ladies that are from different areas. Should they mention this in their profile?

Any ideas? Comments?

Good point! It's very difficult to know, you can't assume that all women from Villages, towns and cities want to live in something similar as it's not the case. There's a certain website where the ladies say were they would like to live and some of the results can be quite surprising. I would suggest if people are beginning correspondence with someone to ask....... otherwise disappointment caould be a big issue. Great post and useful too.

As I wrote before, my ex-wife is from Russia, from a large city called Vladivostok. When we returned to the USA, she refused to live in a small town. She told me she was a city person, and only poor people live in small towns. Of course I'm not saying every woman that lives in a city has the same views, I'm just saying that's my ex-wife's views. I have been told that women in large cities are more materialistic then women from small towns, and I can say that was true for my ex-wife.

So Vincent...

Does that mean you are looking for a small town girl?

jscottv,

Given my past experience of my ex-wife, I have to say yes, I have only looked in smaller towns. Again I'm not trying to say every city girl is like my ex, but as for myself, I don't want to take that chance again. I have been to Berdyansk Ukraine twice to visit a lady and I am going again to visit her next month. Berdyansk is a small town next to the sea, it's really a nice place.

This is an interesting thread! I am looking for a small town lady as well. I live in a small town and have no desire to move into the city, or what I call the concrete jungle. I actually posted on my profile that I live in a small town. This makes my search more difficult, because by Russian and Ukrainian standards, I live in a village which as you know is considered very poor. Realistically, a majority of the people living in my town make a pretty good living. The town has very few people by design. I feel that if I stay the course and keep looking for the small town lady I will be successful. Good luck Vincent on your trip to the Ukraine! I have been there myself and stayed in Kiev. I am hoping to go to some of the smaller villages next time I go.

Interesting topic, my take on it is it really does not matter where she comes from as long as she is willing to live in my home town in the future. I’m from the Bronx originally but now live out west in Reno so I know the big city but prefer to live in a much quieter setting. I would advise that we let the ladies know up front so they two can decide if that works for them.

Hey Miko... It may be more quite, but I bet you miss the bagels!

Thats what prompted me to write... reading the ladies complaints about where they lived when they got here.

I find it interesting that it seems many associate city living with wealth. When here in Atlanta, that may be true to some extent, but most people with money buy homes with land outside the city and drive.

The "inner city" areas tend to be more depressed financially..

Yes, that is right, that is one of the difference's in our way of life. In Russia or Ukraine, small towns seem to be made up of very low income families, and here it can be the opposite. I grew up in Atlanta, when I was young my family lived downtown, but when my father started to make better money, he moved us out to the suburb's. They are the opposite of us, they try to make it to the city. Also most of these women don't drive, my ex-wife was 35 when she arrived here and never driven a car before. In the city they don't need cars, you can walk to anything and there are buses, as I wrote before, I lived in Vladivostok for 1yr. and during that time I was never in a car. So they also look at small towns as no where to go, nothing to do, and no public transportation. I believe most of the ladies do have the wrong idea about small towns here, and it's because they just don't know.

Exactly.. I spent my very early years growing up near Grant Park and the Atlanta Zoo. My dad worked hard and saved his money.. and finally when I was about 8 years old... Dad moved us out of the city and into the suburbs/country..

This was a success for him, to get his family out of the city grime and into a peaceful and clean environment.

Small towns are the great! I chatted with a few ladies here that don't mind living in a small town. However, they do consider it a village and don't understand that a small town here is completely different from a village in the Ukraine.

What I have experienced is what they call a small town is like 300,000 population a village is like under 20,000 and under. And most have no idea of what our cities or small towns are like. I traveled to Ukraine about 18 months ago to Chernovsty. It is in far western Ukraine about 30 miles from Romania. Just from what I have seen the women in large cities are almost just like American women. Just don't expect a woman from Kiev to come here and be happy in a town of 30,000 just not going to happen

I am sure their concept must be different.. I live in a "small town" (Lawrenceville, POP: 30,000), but for me... small town is a relative statement. We have some farm land and undeveloped property. BUT, My "small town" is a 30 minute drive from Atlanta. The city of Atlanta, including the areas around the perimeter highway has a population of nearly 11 million people.

To put this into perspective, Atlanta and it's surrounding areas, have more people living in it than in the whole COUNTRY of Switzerland. So I seriously think they just don't "get it" and have no clue. So I agree, it should be part of the conversation with a lady... and as I posted somewhere before, they really should visit the man in his home, BEFORE the actual marriage so there are no surprises.

Our town square:

Well the only way that she can come here is on a k1 visa. And that is only after a meeting that is well documented with pictures of the two of you together proof of a relationship. Then after all the paper work is approved. The visa is issued and from that date you have 90 days to marry or she has to go back. So yes there is basically a 90 day test drive to she if she can be happy here. I have know several men that once the women get here they change their minds in that 90 period.
