Solartone's comment seems to have caught the attention of the women, 100% misconstrued of course...

I'm not sure if I am the only one who has noticed..... But most of the women here are educated, well spoken and take care of themselves...... I don't think alchoholism is going to be very prominent among this group of women.

Good question...

The only thing I know for a fact is.. if you drink "alone".. you are considered an alcoholic.

I had a girl tell me once, she "didn't drink".. Later, she said she enjoyed beer. :?

So maybe there is a distinction between, Hard, such as Vodka.. or soft, such as beer/wine.

Anyone know the answer to this?

Very much Later she did what and for what current product. on Purp Trate ale.

I think marmaduke nailed this one about alcoholism! But a alcoholic can also drink socially, maybe in his mind he is only socially drinking.

Guys we have a hot discussion about whether anyone partner of the couple should be tolerant to the drinking partner at the family? To be understanding, treat him\her well, deal with his/her drinking problems. The idea is if a partner is an alcoholic it means that there are bad relationships at the family and it is needed to improve these relationships and to be tolerant to the drinker – to suffer but be patient.

To my mind if a person is an alcoholic, there is no reason to break the lives of all family members. Let him/ her enjoy the life at the way he\she wants, but to make suffer all relatives around is mindless and cruel.

Any opinions about?

Personally, I wouldn't tolerate it. Alcoholics consume the family's resources and place a burden on the other members. Most alcoholics I have know drank because there was something wrong with them. Anxiety, depression, stress. All of these things can be helped with modern medication and nobody has to carry you to bed.

Yes, I had an alcoholic in the family.

I've lived in Russia, and most Russian women are turned off to alcohol because of the large quantities of alcohol that most Russian men drink. A woman expressing social drinking usually means that the woman will have a drink with you, but that is all it means. Lots of Russian women in their profiles specifically ask for non-alcoholic men to answer their profile. Russian women also ask for non-aggressive men who beat women. That's another turn off for them. Russian women are strong but gentle women who mean what they say.
Hope this helped.

i will try and help resolve this my wife is ukrainian and has russian father and ukrainian mother.

The drinking alone in the eastern countries is not how we perceive life ,bars etc and clubs are not as we know them. It is rare for someone to drink "alone" in this part of the world you would be considered "needing a drink" . When i 1st visited the ukraine i had a drink in my apartment there and my now wife had a drink with me its sort of tradition ,bad luck to drink alone. I still dont fully understand this situation but the more times i have spent with my wifes family the more i understand.

Its strange for them to see me open a beer when im watching football its like anything you have to have an open mind and realise what you may consider to be one set of values is very different elsewhere .

In my 3-4 months of time spread over 18 months of visits etc and time in the cities and with my wifes friends and family. I never witnessed the falling over drunked smashed types which is a regular occurance in the uk . Its not to say it does not exist but they do handle alchol more responsibly than the western world in general terms .

Hope this is of use and if anyone needs any further help just ask.

good luck all
