How is the situation when a single Russian woman wants to travel on a holiday trip to a Western Country?

I have read in a couple of different places that it is nearly impossible for a young Russian woman to get a visa so that she can leave her home country.

A couple of women have told me in their mails that I have been misinformed!

What is the truth?

I know that if I want a woman or any other person, who I haven't met in person, to come and visit me in Denmark, it is impossible to have a tourist visa. And if she is much younger than me, the authorities may also say no..

I guess that the situation would be different if the woman was a business owner (self employed).

Does any one know the correct answer of my question?

It is the same situation here in the USA. By the time a lady could get a visa other than a fiance' visa to come here. She would lose interest in coming!...

I am in Atlanta and we have a firm here that specializes in Russian visa's. I have spoken at length with their Attorney's. It is very difficult for a lady to come here. Even with a fiance' visa it takes time. I think someone must be very serious before they try to do this.. here it would take time, investment and commitment to make it work.

Hello jscottv

Thank you for your reply. - Recently I was told by a Russian lady that she went to Turkey with her mother and her child and that they bought a visa at the customs.

I have never been to Turkey. But the story I was told seems a bit strange.

I have read that you don't need a tourist visa to Turkey, so why should she pay for a visa at the border?

At least I am not sure, if this story is true..
But I really don't know how it really is..

In Turkey can you get visa at the border,so this is true.I travel to Turkey with a woman from Belarus som years ago,and there was no problem to get tourist visa at the border. As you know is Turkey not a member of EU,and i think this is the reason that Russian people can go there without any problem.

Hello Stein45

As I understand it, everybody can go to Turkey for 90 days on holiday without a visa.

If I want to go to Turkey, I don't have to buy a visa, I think.

But I don't know how this is done in real life. I guess that the agent who makes the booking for your ticket also gives the relevant information to the Turkish authorities..
