Im sure you will do all the tourist stuff, where do you intend to stay cos its bloody expensive by any countries standard . I stayed in a hostel . it was pretty dauntyng on my arrival, but i onls went to sleep there , nothing more. The people i met were all travelers and got vodkered on a couple of nights and met some good folk. cost me $90 for 5 nights , worth considering.

Mike I was in Sparks Reno, in 1992. I had a girlfriend from there. Her surname is Edgington, his father name is Robert. Maybe you know them...

don't forget to talk with your health care provider, the CDC recommends one who specializes in travel medicines such as vaccines, allow your self 4-6 weeks before you travel, just a precaution, there are instructions about visa and travel requirements in most state goverment web sites, I do know you can have a visa within a couple days, I had to have 2 invitations from the russian ministry of interior because I went on buisness, a tourist visa seems much easier, usually the hotel where your staying can take care of the necessary papers from that end.

I would suggest meeting in Ukraine, if at all possible.

A visa for US citizens is not required to enter Ukraine, we can stay for a period of 90 days, maybe in the future, relations will improve with russia, and this visa requirement will also be lifted, who knows! It's all politics and money!

Sounds great I understand that it is not a tough thing for Russians to visit the Ukraine and if no visa is required for U.S citizens to enter as well then it will make things much less painful. Thanks
