Hi,
I have been on 2 UK dating site for a few months now with not much luck. Then about 2 months ago This Russian lady contacted me on one of the UK dating sites. After a bit we started to chat and send each other photos on e-mail. Then have been chating on the phone.
A few weeks ago she said we should meet up for a long weekend. I said you should come to see me in the UK and she said ok. Then she said that if I want her to come and see me in the Uk I would need to pay for half of her travel expenses. I said ok that is fine with me. Then I panicked and have not sent her the money. Then I heard some horror stories about some people who sent money to Russian ladys and it was a scam.
Dose anyome think the Russian lady I met might be a scam or not or should I just go for it pay the money and see what happens?

good day, Sam! let me answer you the question from my retrospective. i am a russian lady from siberia and have been online for some years already. not specifically that i've been looking for my partner all this time, just friends for an interesting talk from time to time (but now i must admit i am concentrated on the first item i mentioned). the situation with the case you described can be true about her asking you to help with the expenses to some extent. for the russians it can be time and money-consuming to organise the travel to the uk and other european countries due to the visa matter, so it is just natural she asked you for help. the other thing is that when a man helps financially the woman it can be some kind of proof to her he is really interested and has serious intentions. if you still have some doubts and uncertainty you can suggest visiting her, i think it could be easier for you to do. or you both could just meet in a third country where it is not that challenging for you both to travel. if she is also serious and a kind of committed to you, she will agree to it. my warm and kind wishes!

Hello samtheman34, of course you do not need to send money to ladies from dating sites in any case. But you can ask a photocopy of her passport and buy an E-ticket for her from Moscow to your country or another place of your meeting. I think any lady from Russia is able to find few money for the road to Moscow and visa. If only she really wants to meet someone:)

As I said in my other post on this forum she is a scammer I found a web site that tells you about scammers and they said she was a scammer. I then thought I would play play long with thins scammer and so I sent her am e-amil to tell her that I have her adderess and had booked a plane ticket to come and see her in Russia. I have had no reply as of yet.
I am lucky as I found out she was a scammer before I sent her any money. I understand some people are not so luck and end up sending lots of mony.

Indeed you are.

But let's just say, if she wants money from you (especially for plane ticket & visa, but occasionally also for things like medicine for a "near-death" babushka), the probability that she is a scammer is somewhere between 85% and 100%.

If she was really interested, she'd be too concerned you'd think she is a scammer when she asks you for money, in which case she would say that she'd like to, but can't afford it.

And if you really want to take the risk, then make sure you don't send the money for buying a plane ticket, but send the plane ticket, and make sure the ticket is NON-refundable, same thing goes for the visa, ask for the payment order from/for the embassy.

Also, why would you have the girl come to you?
If you go to Russia/Ukraine/Belarus/Kazhakstan/Baltics, it will be far cheaper & simpler, as well as much more secure, plus it shows you're really interested in her.

You can also ask the girl whether you can stay with her or her parents.
It's perhaps not the best of ideas, because you don't know who you are staying with, but on the other hand, that way you can stay there for 4 weeks for about 150 USD, including food.

Just make sure you have some money hidden somewhere (belt/socks/shoes), plus you should know the address of a hotel nearby + memorize the address and phone number of the embassy, just in case anything goes horribly wrong, and make a copy of your passport and credit card number and leave that at home, before you go on the trip.

Hi,
I have visited a number of ladies off this site and i must say they are usually genuine and good people.
One rule of thumb before any meeting or travel is to use skype, you can see what you are getting.
Scammers do not like skype as they are usually men hiding behind photos of a beatifull lady.
Avoid any lady who says she has no phone,a sure sign of a scammer,i have dealt with one of these.
A genuine lady would not ask for money to visit you and anyway she would need to be sponsored by you and huge visa restrictions would prevent this!
Do not be frightened to make checks, google your ladies email address and name, also there is a great site to check identified scammers.
Simple really, do not send money and you wont get scammed.
Use your gut instinct and dont get blinded by a large pair of tits, excuse the joke.If something doesnt feel right it probably isnt.
Move on, there are thousands of genuine ladies out there!
Hope this is helpful......

Hi samtheman34 :)

If I was you I would NEVER send money to someone unless you want to lose your money, remember that all scammers always ask for money sooner or later, I have also meet some scammers on other sites, I remember special one girl that wantede me to send her 50.000 $ and did promish to send me 100 million $ in return, I am 42 years old and NOT born yesterday so I never did send her any money, today I believe that if a girl cant pay for her visa or plan ticket then she is a scammer, I dont know about you friend samtheman34 but I am not rich so I am very carefull and dont send money to anyone no matter how much the tryes to tell me how much the love me, because I know that they dont love me but only love my money and as soon as you send them money you will never hear from them again.

So please please dear friend never send your money to anyone you will just cheat your self and become moneyless and lose your trust in finding your real love.
