In every downside there is an upside. People in this 'crisis' generally are lead to the belief that times are tough..so we play it tough. We close shop on any spending outside the necessities of life and bank the rest...but not realising that there are some marvellous opportunities for travel these days. In February I tripped to Macau and stayed at the Venetian complex...for US$280.per day..last year US$540! Air fares are in bargain mode...July 2008 return fare to Rome : AU$2,600. on 'special', now AU$1,400!. So who is benefiting here?
At the moment I am planning a trip to China; Zhuhai and Jilin..then maybe Ukraine, if I can figure how to get a visa.(to Ukriane). Hotels are very affordable; around US$80.per night in most places.
I have read that US currency is the best to travel with..I hope that lasts for a while longer. The way the US is playing poker these days they may get a couple of black Aces and eights.
