The day I became a Russian bride
About a year ago, I thought of nothing more than basking in the notion of becoming a Russian bride. I recall a conversation I had with a close friend about her marriage to an American man. She was so happy about the way things worked out for her. Her marriage quickly became a hot topic of our discussions as I was still single at the time.
After reading about various matchmaking success stories, I made a decision to look for a loved one online. I thought that a relationship with a foreigner… well… there was something special about it. I have therefore posted a personal ad and was waiting for the letters to keep pouring into my Inbox. This has never happened. The only letters I was receiving were letters from men asking me to send nude photos. They were not interested in a serious relationship and I suspect were sending out tons of letters to all women listed. I have also understood that a men who is serious and is looking for a serious relationship will simply be unable to write to thousands of women listed on the site and reply to all the correspondence. I have therefore decided to take a pro-active approach to online dating.
I carefully studied profiles of men who looked attractive to me. In my opinion it is very important to check the age and other information listed in the section "about my date". Generally speaking, if an older man is looking for a younger woman he is not likely to be looking for a serious relationship. After corresponding with over 20 men I noticed other interesting signs a profile can give, not so evident in the beginning. I guess these signs are unique to every person, so you would have to find your own.
I eventually received plenty of correspondence from men who I was interested in. I met many men who were looking for a Russian bride of a younger age, others stressed out the importance of good English and the desire to relocate to their country. All men wanted their Russian bride to be attractive. Why I consider myself to be attractive, and my English is fairly good, I do not wish to live outside Russia. I like Russia with its reach culture, good people. I have a lot of friends here and my family. I like museums, theatres, traffic jams... I am a great fan of Russian food and Russian tradition.
I want to be a Russian bride and I still keep corresponding with several foreign men to find someone who would be willing to relocate to Russia. And although I am not married yet, I do feel that I have become a Russian bride.
