According to CNN and the latest cost-of-living survey, Moscow now ranks as the world's most expensive city, edging out Tokyo, which ranked No. 1 for four straight years.

The city is located by the Moskva River which makes Moscow a center of transportation and commerce. The city is home to such well-known landmarks as the Kremlin, Red Square, and St Basil's Cathedral.
The history of Moscow dates back to around 1147, when it is first mentioned in historical records.
