More About Kazan
The capital city of the Tatarsan Republic, Kazan, sometimes spelled Qazan, is one of the largest cities in Russia. Like Moscow and St Petersburg, Kazan is situated by major waterways: in this case, at the confluence of the Volga and the Kazanka rivers. Kazan is a significant industrial, commercial, and cultural center, particularly for Tatar culture.
Kazan City
Like most of Russia's major cities, Kazan has impressive architecture, including a beautiful citadel structure. The Kazan Kremlin, deriving its name from the Russian, kreml, and sometimes the Tatar, kirman, was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000. Monuments within the Kazan Kremlin include the 5-domed, 6-columned Annunciation Cathedral, dating back to the mid-16th century, and the Soyembika Tower, famous for its mysterious tilt, named after the last queen of Kazan. Kazan divides into two districts, one of which is historically Russian, while the other is historically Tatar.
Kazan Girls
Like most Russian girls, those who live in Kazan are typically very sophisticated, educated, and stable. Russia is often considered home to some of the most beautiful girls in the world, but don't let this intimidate you. Russian girls are approachable and friendly. However, in Kazan, where the population is composed of both Tatars and Russians, accounting for about 45% and 55% of the population respectively, you will also find plenty of young girls who are native Tatar rather than Russian.
History of Kazan
Whether the city was founded by the Volga Bulgars in the Middle Ages or the Tatars of the Golden Horde in the mid-15th century, historians are uncertain. What they do know and say about Kazan, is that it has a diverse cultural background as the home of many different tribes, including Russians, Tatars, and Germans. In the mid-15th century, the Kazan city bazaar, became the most important trade center in the region and in 1552, the city was conquered by Ivan the Terrible. Under the rule of the Tsars, including, most notably, Peter the Great, Kazan developed into an important industrial and military center for the empire. During World War II, many of the Soviet factories and industrial plants were moved to the city.
